To introduce this farm based business, we must go back to a time when Ireland’s farmers went through many pitfalls and hard times trying to make a living off the family farm.
In the year 2005 following discussions by the Ulster Farmers Union in Northern Ireland and the Irish Farmers Association in Southern Ireland the North South Pig Company was formed by pig producers throughout the island of Ireland with the following objectives;
- To secure the Irish Pig Industry for the Irish Pig Farmer
- Enhance competitiveness in the market place – cut out the middle man – strive for better pig prices
- Increase the financial benefit of the shareholder
- Strengthen the Irish pig production industry by creating forward looking promotions
The North South Pig Company is today sponsored by a European Building Sustainable Prosperity – Marketing of Agricultural Products Grant.
